You don't need a big website.
You need a good one.
Lean, fast & easy-to-find websites for small businesses in Cary, Raleigh, Durham and across the Carolinas.
Built to be found - on Google Search and on Google Maps.
$450 to build. $90 a month. Cancel anytime.
Built by a real person you can actually call.
Got one of our postcards?
Then you've already seen your new website. It's real, it's finished, and it's yours if you want it. Nothing to sign up for. No obligation.
If you like it, call me. If you don't, toss the card. I'll check in once by phone - and if the answer's no, that's the last you'll hear from me.
Lean on purpose.
When somebody looks you up, they're on their phone, and they want to know three things: what you do, whether you're any good, and how to reach you. A lean, well-built site answers those questions just as well as a sprawling one. The rest? Sometimes it's needed. More often, somebody got sold something fancier than they needed.
So that's what we build: the pages that matter, done right. Loads fast, reads clean, looks good on a phone.
And it's built to grow. If you ever want a photo gallery, online booking, more pages - we add them when there's a real reason to. Not before.
What you get
- A finished, mobile-friendly website - your services, your photos, your reviews, your service area
- Your own domain name - or your existing one. You own it, not us.
- Your Google Business Profile, set up and linked to the site - the right categories, hours, service area and photos, so the listing and the site agree and you show up on Google Maps
- Pages built to be found - a page for each service and each town you cover, with titles and descriptions written for the searches your customers actually use
- Hosting, backups, and security - handled
- Small changes whenever you need them. New photos, new hours, a new service - call or text and it's done.
- A real person who answers the phone
Getting found on Google
Two different things happen when somebody searches for what you do. There's the map at the top, with a handful of businesses and their star ratings, and there's the list of results underneath it. They get ranked in different ways, and your website matters to both.
On the map
Map results lean on your Google Business Profile, and on whether the rest of the internet agrees with it. Setup includes a one-time tune-up: the right categories, your real service list, hours, service area, photos, and a link to the new site. Your name, address and phone are made to match everywhere, because mismatches are one of the quiet reasons a listing slips. Then the website gives Google something solid to check the listing against.
In the search results
These rankings come from your pages. Every service you offer and every town you work in can have its own page, built around the keywords your customers actually type into Google, with page titles and descriptions to match. The site loads fast on a phone, which Google measures, and it carries the markup that tells search engines what you do and where. That same groundwork is what the answer engines read, so when somebody asks Google's overview or ChatGPT who does this work near them, the answer is built from pages like yours.
The honest version: this takes months, not days, and nobody can promise you the top spot. If somebody does, keep your wallet closed. What I can promise is that the groundwork is right, so everything else you do - reviews, word of mouth, the listing - has something to build on. If you want the longer version, read how to actually show up on Google Maps.
Price
$450 to build it. Then $90 a month - or $900 a year and get two months free.
Monthly or annual, that covers hosting, backups, security, and small changes whenever you need them. Bigger work - new pages, online ordering, something custom - gets a plain quote first, every time.
Cancel anytime. If you leave, I hand you the files and your domain goes with you. No hostages.
Curious how that compares? What a small business website costs in North Carolina and what the $90 a month actually covers.
Who I am
I'm James Prior. I live in Cary, and I personally oversee every site Foothold builds.
I've spent most of my career helping businesses make technology useful. I started Foothold in 2026 because I kept seeing good businesses - booked solid, decades of word of mouth - with websites that didn't do them justice, or no website at all. A traditional agency can charge a few thousand dollars for a site like this. I charge $450, because the sites are simple on purpose and we run lean - no office, no salespeople, no account managers.
When you call the number on this page, I'm who answers.

Fair questions
Did you really make a site just for my business?
Yes. There's no charge for the preview and no obligation to buy it. I build a limited number of them for local businesses I think I can help, using photos and information your business has already published online - nothing private. If you want it, great. If not, no hard feelings, and if you'd rather the preview come down, tell me and I'll remove it - same day.
How do I know this is legit?
Fair question - a postcard from a stranger with your business on it is unusual. Here's the deal: I build most of your site before we ever talk, at my own risk, because showing beats telling. Call me, text me, or email me. I'm the person who answers.
What if the preview gets something wrong?
Somewhere, it probably does - I built it from what's public online, and nobody knows your business like you do. When you come on board, the first thing we do is go through it together - wrong hours, an old price, a service you no longer offer - and fix it before the site goes live.
What if I already have a website?
Then you've seen how it compares. If yours is working for you, keep it - honestly. If it's outdated or broken, moving to the new one is part of the $450.
I've got a Google listing and a Facebook page. Isn't that enough?
They're working for you - the Google listing is how I found you. But after the click, somebody's comparing three businesses with the same stars, and the one with a real site behind the listing - photos, credentials, the towns you cover - gets the call. A site also helps people find you in the first place - every service you offer and every town you work in is another search Google can match you to. A listing alone can't do that. Facebook's for people who already know you; the website's for people who don't. Keep both. The site is the only piece you actually own. The longer answer is here.
Do I own it?
Your domain and your content are yours, always. If you ever cancel, the site files are yours too - handed over free, host them anywhere.
Why is it so cheap?
Because a lean, streamlined site done well doesn't need to cost $3,000. I keep the sites focused and my overhead low, so you're paying for the website - not an agency.
What does the $90 a month include?
Everything that keeps the site alive and current: hosting, SSL and security, backups, and the technical upkeep behind the scenes. Plus the everyday changes - new text, photo swaps, updated hours or contact info, minor layout tweaks. And direct support: when you call or text, I answer. Bigger work gets a plain quote first, every time.
What if I want more later?
That's the idea. Start with a foothold. Add on when something earns its keep - a quote-request page, a "greatest hits" work gallery, pages for each town you serve, online booking, a small "proof of work" app, etc. - and you'll get a plain price before any work starts. Here's the longer answer.
