The best way to judge a builder is to look at the work. Here are three sites I built and a few things I've written, so you know what you're getting before you pick up the phone. The postcard previews I build for local businesses stay private until the owner says yes, so none of those appear here.
Websites
-
Gudgy Lawn & Grounds
A two-truck landscaping crew serving five towns in western Wake County. This is the kind of site most of my customers need: what you do, where you do it, and a way to reach you, done well. It has a before-and-after slider you drag with your thumb, a published price sheet with a rough-it-out estimator, a route map that lights up your town when you type your ZIP, and a quote form that actually delivers. Still hand-built HTML, so it loads in a blink on a phone in a truck. Wes Gudgy and his crew are made up; the site is real and live.
-
Hardyes Sawmill & Lumber
One business with a trade side and a retail side on the same site: custom milling for contractors and a slab yard for woodworkers. It has the pieces owners ask me about most - a slab gallery you can filter, a quote form that sends photos from a phone, and a board-foot calculator that prices a job from the yard's own rates. Still plain, hand-built HTML: nothing to patch, loads instantly. Hardyes is made up; everything on the page is there to be kicked.
-
Asia Sightsee
My own travel site, from a decade living in Singapore and Hong Kong. A different job than a business site: long reads, a lot of photos, and one clear voice. It's a good example of a page that carries plenty of content and still feels light, because it's a single file with no scripts running behind it. Mine to tinker with, so it also shows how I like a site to read when nobody's looking over my shoulder.
Writing
A website is mostly words, and I write them myself. Before Foothold I spent years in software, where part of the job was explaining complicated things to busy people. A few pieces from that stretch:
-
Warehouse Slotting Primer
Tryon Solutions blog. What slotting is, why it matters, and how to start, written for the person who has to actually do it.
-
How to Calculate WMS ROI
Tryon Solutions blog. Turning a big software purchase into numbers a manager can defend.
-
Test Automation Buzzwords Explained
Cycle Labs blog. Plain-English definitions for a field that loves its jargon.
If you'd like the longer version of where I've worked and what I did there, it's on LinkedIn. The short version: I've spent most of my career helping businesses make technology useful, and Foothold Web is no different.
Got a postcard from me? Your preview is already built. Scan the code on the card or call, and I'll walk you through it.
